Subject: ANNOUNCE: B-Em for OS X
--=_NextPart_Lycos_278721667589153_ID
I seem to be having difficulty getting through to Tom Walker, so I thought
I'd announce here that I've just completed a port of version 1.0 of his
BBC Micro emulator, B-Em to Mac OS X complete with a full native GUI and
OS integration (including filetype icons by Ewen Roberts originally contributed
to my ElectrEm project). Unfortunately Allegro is very slow on OS X with
the result that B-Em is very slow, so you'll probably need at least close
to a 1 Ghz machine to get decent performance at 800x600. On my old 667Mhz
G4 the BBC B is usable at 800x600 without sound. I daren't imagine what you'll
need to use the ARM Evaluation System usefully. I hope that it'll work on
OS versions as low as 10.2 but I'm still not very confident about that sort
of thing.
I've uploaded it to http://members.allegro.cc/ThomasHarte/osx for the time
being. A screenshot can be seen at http://members.allegro.cc/ThomasHarte/osx/shots/B-Em.png
. If anyone has OS X, could they please give it a whirl?
