Subject: Master 128 questions
1) I have a Master ET which is not producing any sound although it is working
normally in every other way. Even the start up sounds don't happen although I
sometimes get a quick bust of static from the speaker when I do a 'R' switch
on. I've plugged in a known good speaker and it still does not work. Has
anyone got any tips on what the problem might be? Is there a volume control
somewhere on the motherboard? What does VC1 do and is it related to sound?
2) A standard M128 this time. This one has three small batteries fitted into
the area in the cartridge/speaker assembly with contacts and 2 wires running
back to the battery plug near the power supply. The wires do not have the
diode and resistor on them and I have not seen this type of assembly before.
Is this an infamous exploding batteries set up or something else? It's an
issue 1 machine and the modulator is dated 8435 but the keyboard and PSU are
dated 86.
Thanks,
Mike.
