Most houses have a 100A fuse, with a distribution board (fuse
board) rated at 60A.  So, as long as he wasn't running the washing
machine at the same time, his fuseboard wouldn't have melted.
 
Mine Chew, I've never seen a fuseway with a fuse larger than 45A,
so he must have been popping them a quite a rate.
