Yes, that's just reminded me of item 5 on my wants list - a more
efficient way of building the free space map. With my main MDFS
of 8 60MB partitions active at any one time, it takes about half-an-hour
to complete the free space map building process which is a bit of
a nuisance when my "work" disc is drive J so it is the last to be done
and you can't save anything to it until the map is complete!
Best wishes,
Ian

There is an upper limit on the storage space available on an MDFS tho.
The free space map is kept in RAM, and built up when the server boots.
The larger this gets, the less RAM there is for everything else, such as
the cache. There will be a point, though, at which you've run out of RAM.
I have a ~240MB drive on my MDFS which is plenty for my needs and then
some, however, it would be nice it it was just one partition, rather
than the 4 it's currently in.
All this talk of Econet has reminded me of the electron econet thing I
started, I really should attempt to finish that - it was all pretty much
okay, excpet the electron's ULI and NMIs causing problems.
Cheers
Chris
