Talking of dead PSUs, I am finding (as I am sure are many others) that
whilst the Beeb itself is practically indestructible, the power supply is
not! Does anybody know of a good source of replacement PSUs or
an alternative which could be used? Or maybe the technical ones out
there could knock together a couple of hundred of new ones somehow
with all the right outputs and connectors including the infamous
auxiliary output?
Best wishes,
Ian

You may find the Beeb itself OK if you replace the dead PSU with a good
one.

Subject: [BBC-Micro] DFS errors
Afternoon all,
I picked up three BBC B computers and a dual 40/80 Cumana drive from a chap
on Freecycle the other day - two of the Beebs are dead (one PSU went 'bang'
when I tested it, so I thought it wise to leave that alone), but I've
managed to get one of them working fine.
However, the dual drive is giving a lot of 'error 08' messages. I believe
that this is an issue with the clock timing (or something like that!), and
I've inspected the 'links' on the keyboard (right of the spacebar) and all
of the links are missing.
Can anyone perhaps shed any light as to which links need to be made? I've
taken the lid off the drive (incredibly clean inside), and the two identical
drives are Mitsubishi units - model number M4853-342MG
Many thanks in advance,
Matt
