Actually, doesn't seem a bad article - although a bit long, so that I found 
myself skimming in the middle.

I think I'd disagree with: "There are still a few functioning Beebs around the 
place" - I'd reckon an 2000-3000 survivors still in the UK, and probably 
similar numbers scattered overseas. No shortage of them yet for anyone who 
wants the real thing.

I don't recall seeing one doing the railway station displays for a few years 
now, though - I think those have possibly all gone. (Possibly related note, we 
know of the chap who did all the software / comms for the railway signalling 
network in the 80's; I'll have to ask on the off-chance that his company did 
the BBC-based display systems too)
