That's where I was going wrong - I'd been all through edit/preferences and 
tools/accounts/submenus - I don't think I'd ever found that the account header 
could be clicked on :-)

(I was scratching my head as to why it wasn't set under either 
tools/accounts/account/composition or edit/preferences/composition, and had 
come to the conclusion that it just wasn't supported except via a plugin - 
none of the other menu choices seemed relevant!)
