Not so hasty. It's probably just the startup cap dried out - I've a Master
here that's on 24/7 but takes ages to start after I take the fuse out of the
ring main (as you do).
I'd be pretty sure if you wait 5-10 mins it'll power up normally (you can
even monitor the secondary rail creaping up with a multimeter),
