I ended up finding a disk image of the welcome disk, and using BBC Explorer
to get the files from that. It created the correct .INF files that XFER51
needs.
I now have a *real* welcome disk for my *real* BBC-B :)

I don't want to get into trouble on the mailing list for having the mail
settings incorrect, or top posting...
I have received a file from my BBC using XFER51, and the resulting INF
contains the following
$.boot 000900 000900 000200 Locked ATTR=a TYPE=1
I think that anything after the length can probably be discarded, and a
default value would be used.
All that is missing is the length, so if this is added all should work
fine. It'll need to be in hex, but can easily be found by right clicking the
non-INF file with the same name, then converting.
Hope that some of this is helpful.
Good luck!

It would seem then that *some* programmes which create the .inf files
are
not using the standard that you expect. Some of the files have the word
"locked" in them also:
$.FORM80 2800 2804 Locked CRC= 6594
This example is from the same ZIP archive of the welcome disc. How do I
get
around this problem?
