Hi Adam,

Do both lights come on when you use the first drive too? If so, maybe
both drives are jumpered to the same drive number?

If this is not the case, try swapping the drive numbers and see if the second
drive then works and the first one fails. If the software is not quite right,
it could be trying to select the drive by writing to some funky drive select
register which isn't present on your hardware.

If the drive jumpers are not obvious, try disconnecting the interface cable from
the first drive and see if the second drive works then. 

It may also be worth trying a spare interface cable. If the cable is
intended for a PC, ensure that nothing is plugged in beyond any twists.
