I'd always assumed it was just discourage users from randomly replacing
batteries - mixing types and/or different levels of charge can probably make
some batteries a little upset and prone to leakage.
Hasn't someone on here got a Master series machine with a proper battery bay
(trapdoor in the underside) though? I'm sure there was at least one about -
but I'm not sure where it fitted in the machine's timeline.
