Mine is like that, though I no longer have the cover, screw and battery
holder (just the extraneous thread embedded in the Master casing). This
was done on the Master AIV as the place where the batteries were normally
stowed was occupied by the SCSI board.

Having said that, I find my battery pack sits just fine in the space to
the left of the keyboard.
