Hmm, are you sure they aren't from the modern generation of cheap printers 
which essentially assemble an image of the page on the host computer, before 
spitting out to the printer? (In other words the printer really has no smarts 
of its own)

I suppose one could hack together a cheap PC which used a parallel port as 
input and emuluted a Centronics connector, then translated "ASCII" data from 
the beeb to whatever the printer used.
