For a 9-pin, I nominate a Star NX series. I was recommended a Star
by a friend at University who had had the oportunity to play
around with different printers. Avoid the Panasonic!
 
I have a Star NX 1001, which sadly now, jams when the print
carriage returns. I now have no way of printing my family tree
diagrams on 15ft-long pieces of paper.
