:-) Best thing to do on a crowded desk is probably to have a TV card in a PC 
and use that to hook up vintage devices, I'm afraid :-(

re. Google's web interface - bleurgh. Far more useful to set up a real mail 
client and use POP access to get to your email, IME (subject to you being in 
an environment where you can do that, of course). I've seen better graphical 
interfaces on the beeb from 20 years ago :-)
