Subject: Re-using cheese wedge cases

Someone asked about this and I've lost track of who it was...

All of the official copro boards just need a single +5V supply. That means
that any copro wedge case should be re-usable with any copro - but in some
cases you might need to lengthen the power supply wires to reach (e.g. 32016
power input is top-right, but on the 6502 it's top-left).

The Prestel adapter has its power supply directly on the board, so doesn't
have a supply at the front of the case like the copros. The Teletext adapter
does have a supply in the case front, but has some extra lines (+40V and +12V
I think, without going and checking). I suspect its +5V line is capable enough
of driving a copro, with the other lines not being used.

I think (without going to look) the IEEE adapter has the bulk of the PSU on
the IEEE board itself, and has the transformer bolted to the bottom-middle of
the case. Econet Bridge I think was just the same supply as used for the
copros - i.e. +5V.

So, unless you have a Prestel or IEEE case, the supply should be good enough
to re-use the wedge and drop a copro board into.

cheers

Jules
