When you say newsletter or booklet, do you mean "magazine"?
 
I have Beebug Vol 9 No. 4 Aug/Sep 1990 in front of me here. It says
"Beebug for the BBC Micro & Master Series" on the front. It is
composed of A4 sheets folded into an A5 magazine. To scan I'd fold
it flat and remove the staples and feed the resulting 16 sheets of
double-sized A4 paper through a sheet feed scanner.
