Subject: BeebEm comms...

If anybody wants to play with this (telnet enabled BeebEm) then download:

http://www.irrelevant.com/bbc/TestBeebEmComms.rar

- extract it into an existing BeebEm installation - you'll get a new
BeebEm.exe and a folder containing 'tcpser'.

If you just want to play with an emulated dial-up modem, run go.bat
from the new folder, and in BeebEm, select RS423 Destination > Remote
Serial Port > localhost from the Comms menu! Ensure IP232 mode is
ticked. Fire up your favourite comms package, and 'dial' a host:port !
e.g.
ATDTfish.ccl4.org
ATDTwotmud.org:2222

If you want to use the custom destination settings, rather than
localhost, for now you'll have to save the preferences (usually into
My Documents\Beebem\Preferences.cfg) then edit the file with Wordpad
and change "IP232customip" (text, e.g. "192.168.0.1") and
"IP232customport" (hex, e.g. 00006290) If you are not using tcpser,
set the IP232 mode OFF, this acts like a direct-cable-connection to a
single server,

It's not quite finished - there is still some tweaking to do - it
doesn't seem to connect when running if the prefs are set to do so,
for instance, so if you get no response, and nothing changes in the
tcpser window with go.bat in it, set RS423 to Off on the comms menu,
then re-select the destination again and see if it connects to tcpser.
Oh, and ensure you quit tcpser with ^C as just closing the window
seems to stop it working again until a reboot!

Have fun...

Rob.
