Subject: RISC OS Memory Allocation Question

Hi.

I've just had a 10 minute fiddle with an A4, and you can sort of set the
memory in Basic, but only if going through the WIMP. From Supervisor:

*WIMPSLOT -NEXT 2000K
*WIMPTASK BASIC

will run Basic, with 2MB available (on a 4 meg machine). It starts in a
window, but you can then just MODE xx out of it.

There probably is another way of doing it, but I can't see a configure
option for memory settings in the status, only that WImpslot, which is the
same as dragging the "NEXT" bar across in the task window.

Mark.

Subject: [BBC-Micro] RISC OS Memory Allocation Question

Hope this is allowed on here - is there a * command or similar
method of allocating a specified amount of RAM to the next application
or utility to be run?

For instance, if I am in Supervisor mode and I want to start BASIC with
only half of the available RAM (e.g. 2MB on a 4MB machine) would there
be a way to do this?

Best wishes,

Ian
