Subject: Domesday Preservation - lets take action

Okay guys,

Having read the fascinating article below, can I suggest that we as a
BBC Micro forum take things further by actively trying to preserve what
data we can from the laserdiscs - or by going to the Government,
Lottery, whatever to see if we can save it for future generations?

I would suggest bringing our communications to Mike Tibbetts, who was
heavily involved in the creation of the Domesday Project to let him know
we have working systems and would potentially like to assist (?). I know
that some of you have been doing a fantastic job in keeping these
systems alive and although I've yet to get my hands on one - I think
it's brilliant that the BBC user base is still alive. I applaud you all.

The big question is - what could we do, and how would we do it? I like
the idea of the online petition. I might be talking nonsense now, but
let's get this going.

Aaron

There's an interesting note here,

was taken to try and preserve the data originally, and how fruitless
it turned out to be.
