And here are the results for you, it is indeed 8K. :) , I've saved that 
routine as it looks quite handy, thanks Mike.

(8K) NET
(16K) DFS
(16K) BASIC

If it helps, this machine has a 1770 (Watford) based Disc interface, an 
Acorn 1770 2.26 Rom, factory Econet (going from the serial number, 
although when I got it it had no NFS rom at all but everything else was 
present) and one single 16K ram chip.

I added the NFS rom (it did not have one fitted for some reason, 
although Econet works great on this machine, a lot lot better than my 
net only Issue 3) , and I added one of Ian's Sideways Ram chips recently 
too.
