Eek some horror stories there. Best I can manage is a full-height
ST506 type drive that would only read data if positioned upside down.
Even then I had trouble with a handful of sectors - after getting a
few read by tapping the drive just as it tried to read it, the last
few read ok if it were dropped onto the desk from a couple of inches,
as it tried ... needless to say, it was junked after we finished ..

This would have been about 1992, give or take a couple of years, so
they were still almost current technology... certainly we had a lot of
clients out there with them in use.

I hope these ones are OK - the filestores visibly look fine, so I'm
hoping for the best.. waiting until I have a bit of time to spend
before I attack any of them though.
