The beeb does have Pots, one for the audio level, and one for the speech 
speed.

Make sure you remove all socketed ICs before you start, and the lid to the 
UM1233. No need for any IPA after the wash, but get a NEW garden sprayer, 
little hand held one you pump up, fill it with de-ionised water from a car 
shop, and rinse the board down with that - the de-ionised water does not 
leave any residue on drying.

When drying, use a can of air, and a hair dryer, but be careful not to 
overheat components.
