1. It is easier to store if you have multiple units and want to keep some as
spares.
2. It usually doubles or triples the value of the computer if the original
box remains. The better condition, the higher value for a collector.
But yes, if you intend to use it you can take the Beeb out of its box and
store the box at a safe place.
Anyway, this reminds me about when the IBM PC 5150 celebrated 25 years old.
That was in the fall of 2006 if I got my records straight. Some major
newspapers caught on and published articles about the PC. Within the next
few weeks, all IBM PC's and even some XT's on eBay skyrocketed in price.
Even those systems with 3rd party additions and thus not much sought by
collectors reached twice or thrice the usual selling price. After a few
weeks or a month it slowed down.
I am quite sure your BBC Micros and Masters will be down to reasonable
prices again by January if not sooner.
By the way, I would expect Sinclair stuff to also sell for more than
usually, or did the Micro Men show not picture Sir Clive's computers in a
good fashion? ;-)
Best regards
