One of mine works, although it has leaking capacitor issues that I
ought to resolve. The other, bought more recently off eBay, turned out
to have a logic board destroyed by an exploded PRAM battery, and the
nipple broken off the back of the tube. Scrap basically. I replaced
the tube with one from a Classic II (with logic board also destroyed
by the battery), and bought another logic board off eBay. That looks
OK but just displays stripes on bootup - maybe just capacitors, but I
haven't investigated it further.

I had a Mac IIci in my loft for years that I bought from the tip, and
never powered it on (I have another IIci, my first ever Mac, also from
the tip). Only a few weeks ago I brought it down into the kitchen to
have a play with it and see what software it might have on it, and to
try a Nubus ethernet card in it that I'd bought off eBay. It worked
for a bit, but now it won't even power up - also probably a capacitor
problem.

Rob off this list gave me a Mac IIsi in part-exchange for a RiscPC I
sold him - that seemed to have a leaking PRAM battery that I thought
I'd nipped in the bud by removing it and cleaning the board, but it
crashes at bootup with any more RAM installed than the 1MB on the
motherboard :-(
