I use 2.x.x.x too (because I can't motivate myself to upgrade glibc to a 
version that'll run 3.x.x.x, and a complete OS upgrade will happen *sometime* 
soon) and I find it leaks memory, too - seems to do it on sites that are 
Javascript-intensive, though, so I suspect a problem there.
