I was going to suggest this too. Great minds think alike, and all that :D

I've got a tweezers-like chip extractor made from metal, which I never
use. I found it in the car the other week; I'd used it a while ago as
it makes a very good blade-type fuse puller. It's better at that than
removing ICs.
