I've got a vague memory, probably from a quick experiment somewhere,
that this doesn't work. I can recall something about a 1.44MB drive
working in such a situation using HD disks with the hole covered over
(i.e. tricking it into using them as DD disks), but HD disks with the
hole open being used on a DD-only type system such as a Beeb just
resulted in complete failure. I can't remember exactly what I was
doing to discover this, so it isn't conclusive, and my memory might be
playing tricks on me.
