As long as you used the resistor and diode from the original battery
pack, or new ones, and they are in line with the cables, then you
should be fine.
One of the problems I found with one machine I had was that the socket
on the end of the existing cable had itself corroded, so it wasn't
making good contact when I re-used it. Should you have problems,
check that (and the pins on the main board) too.
