Hi,
Hoping one of you will have come across something like this before.
I have acquired (read: rescued from a bin) an Omron NS5-SQ00B-V2. When I
finally found a 24V supply, the thing appeared to power up (LED red,
then green, then red with incessant beeping). Suggests something is
wrong (screwed up Flash?). It may be worth noting that the LCD panel
doesn't light up or appear active, though I'd perhaps need to take the
display apart to know if it is not working or just no backlight. That
said, the thing isn't complete junk as it does appear to pass some sort
of start-up procedure before invoking "aaargh!" mode. :-)
Sadly, the internal processor/SoC (?) is an Omron TF548NF so I can't
tell if it is x86 based or ARM or something else again.

There is a CF interface, touch panel on the LCD, two serial, and a USB
slave. Oh, and some sort of proprietary expansion interface.
Other chips on the board are:
6417750R (big square, LCD video chip perhaps?)
Epson S1D13506F00A2 (combi-I/O perhaps?)
29LV160BE-70PFTN with a sticker saying "BFZ0A" - Flash?
Some other chips on the other side of the board. Look like RAM of some
description.
So, should I just bin this, or can something be done? The LCD's
backlight (if it works...) is built into the board, but the LCD itself
(320x240 maybe 4096 colours, but I don't know if this is the graphics
chip or the LCD) connects using two large ribbon connectors (1x22 and
1x17). Oh, and a 1x20 for the touch matrix. Doesn't look like
interfacing to anything would be particularly easy.
Anyway... HELP! :-)
Best wishes,
Rick.
