It's not just which chipset, but which chipset driver version is used in the
firmware. The TI AR7 is the full chip / processor, not the DSL chipset
although it is integrated within that IC. Look at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TI-AR7 for a list of routers that use it. Good
idea to investigate the Open Firmware projects to see which can be used. You
will get better facilities to tweak performance and update drivers.
I use an AVM FritzBox 7270. An unbelievably comprehensive piece of kit.
DECT, WLAN, VoIP, ISDN, PoTS, USB, media server, NAS, etc. etc. all
integrated - but with a price tag too. With the firmware revisions, the DSL
drivers are documented and there are definitely some bug[sic] differences
between them. It has the TI C62x chipset, driver v1.52.40.20 with a TI UR8
processor and gets excellent results. Currently running at 4596 kBit/s with
a 47db line attenuation.
There are a few frequencies in the 552-700 kHz range that I need to sort out
too!
