The AR7 is reputed to be problematic with some DSLAMs. Demon users in
particular seem to have trouble (Demon is owned by Clueless and Witless,
who LLU'ed all Demon users onto their lines)

Broadcom BCM6348, if google is to be believed.

Perhaps your line/DSLAM just suits the AR7?
