The speech system uses Texas Instruments chips, and they had the habit
at the time of labelling the pins on their chips for the data bus as
D0 to D7 - where D7 was the LSB and D0 the MSB. Acorn weren't the
only people to do caught out by this non-standard (and stupid!)
labelling.
