When my school got co-ax Ethernet for our Arcs (with a weird bridge
device to connect to the old Econet) they all had tamperproof plastic
boots to prevent unplugging. At least nobody thought of the drawing pins
through the cable.
On the other hand, we used to avoid particularly unpleasant lessons in
order to "fix the network". The problems were usually caused by us
bridging the clock pins with a staple on a socket in an out-of-the-way
location. I guess that was one of my formative experiences as a BOFH ;-)
