That is what I am trying to correct, the ".". It's like saying "perl" 
and "php" are odd languages found on /other/ computers, so they should 
revert to filetype &000. Not so helpful if you actually want to 
associate an action with them.

You have a valid point about .basic being "any" BASIC, however as it 
apparently hasn't been claimed in all this time... Besides, tokenised 
BASIC follows a fixed format, you ought to be able to verify this with 
the first four bytes.
