I hope all you folk giving advice to Bob, are going to donate some needed
cash to help him upgrade his computer now he has SP3 and IE8!!!

just because he couldn't download a pdf!

OK, should be fixed now. Have tried it with IE and have tried a few pdf file
downloads etc and they all worked.

I was about to comment that I have now "converted" to SP3 and IE8. Since
then the problem has *not* gone away, and.... my machine now runs like
molasses in a European winter (molasses here is *very* liquid :) ).

       Why do you say they are slightly strange (and confusing) ?
       
       It appears the site is having problems serving the files that are
saved
       directly in a .pdf format. This is also in IE8 aswell as IE6. Using
Opera
       doesn't give the same problem.
