But would it cope with momisms?

She freely mixes "one thousand five hundred" and "sixteen hundred". Does 
my head in working out how many zeroes are supposed to be in the number.

For me, anything over a thousand is "X thousand Y hundred", until we hit 
millions ('cos there's nothing really in between).
