On the BBC B, there must always be an active language ROM (Wordwise, BASIC,
etc) because there is no default like on the Master and Archimedes - with
those families you can fall back to the supervisor prompt with
  *GOS
but on the BBC B you can only quit Wordwise by starting another language
like BASIC (or vice versa).

Similarly *QUIT doesn't exist on a BBC B, that's an Archimedes era thing.

If you want a supervisor prompt, you could download my GOS ROM and program
it into an EPROM. It's in the downloads section of
