So you won't be swapping to a petrol then anytime soon! 30mpg is about right
for JGH in a petrol, also taking into consideration it's A roads/dual/triple
carriageways and the fact he hasn't been driving long.
I only used to get 36-37 out of a 1.6 Toyota engine with 1.2 tonne of weight
(unloaded). Bimmer 5 series V8 about 23mpg and around 16 if I start
flooring it.
That is the diff between Petrol & Diesel, at least in mpg terms. Also an
automatic with have slightly worse consumption that a manual.
