It's some considerable time since I was in the market for a job, but I
found better results with the actual bricks and mortar agencies too,
e.g. Huxley Associates (only people who actually contacted me directly
with a suitable job), Progressive, etc, rather than the web based
outfits whom seem to concentrate on volume rather than service..

Mind you, I do have to say, I had much better success writing directly
to companies I knew would be in the market for someone with my skills,
rather than waiting for adverts where I'd be competing with others.
Make sure you use stick-in-their-memory techniques (use brightly
coloured paper, photos, etc.) too...
