I've just spent about six hours doing this - a frustration that
meant I had to reverse and start again three hours in was the
latest DirectX libraries have some files needed by BeebEm removed,
so I had to go back and start again with an earlier version.

Then, another six hours carefully reading the code to work out where
to tweek the code to add the IDE drivers and make them user-selectable
so they don't fight with the SCSI drivers.

A test update here: http://mdfs.net/temp/BeebEm412Test.zip which just
includes the BeebEm executable, an HADFS ROM image and a truncated
IDE disk image. Backup your existing BeebEm installation and extract
the archive on top of it.

Run BeebEm, select *HADFS, and drive 4 should be present.

I can go back to actually updating HADFS now... ;)
