Subject: Upgrading a 32016 co-processor to 10MHz

I actually did this in the 80s, by obtaining crystals then from a company
called Cirkit in the UK, using the standard processors, I just needed to
use heat sinks and fans, to cool the processors, which is now, what is commonly
referred to as Over clocking! I actually used to sell speed kits in, I think
it was micro mart, circa 1987! (for some Student beer tokens!)

I got the idea because I found an AMD 80286-10, clocked at 12MHz, in the
PC Opus V, so starting experimenting with Acorn kit!

This worked successfully on the 32016, and also the 80186 coprocessor boards,
others from what I remember were not that successful!

But maybe which such rare kit today, probably wise, not to mess!!!

Andy

Subject: [BBC-Micro] Upgrading a 32016 co-processor to 10MHz

I?ve got hold of a 10MHz chipset for my 32016 second-processor. Does anyone
know if it is safe to run it at 10MHz without replacing the ram with a faster
variety?

The current ram is 150ns but I noticed that that?s the same speed as used
in the ACW.

Thanks,

Rob
