OK. On the one I used, if you pushed the lever really gently, the 
carriage returned to the left and when it met the stop, the lever 
advanced the paper. But if you went at it quickly and sharply, the paper 
advanced first and then the carriage returned. It was a whole thing to 
do with the inertia of the carriage.

But can we emulate that in software??? You know, <LF><CR> if you just 
tap Return and <CR><LF> if you give it some welly?
