Subject: BBC format BASIC files

Hi all,

This is going to be *slightly* off-topic, but I should think that most of
you can answer it fairly straightforwardly.

I just got a new Raspberry Pi going with RISC OS Pico (which boots straight
into BBC BASIC). Now I was able to extract files from an .IMG of the BBC
Welcome disk using WA Steer's disk content extractor. From there I can copy
them to a USB stick and run them on RISC OS with *SCSI and LOAD "filename".
Great.

But I've found a cache of BBC GAMES online here:
http://www.sigord.co.uk/GAMES.htm.

These individual files are apparently in BBC file format, but if I try to
load them I get "Bad Program". I assume that there is a subtle binary
difference. My questions are:

1) Can anyone tell me off the top of their heads what the problem might be?
2) Is there a utility somewhere which will correct it?

Many thanks! It would be lovely to get some use out of all those old BASIC
games.

Ben
