From a message on the museum mailing list itself, I believe that the
nature of the work is recapping, rather than more general fault diagnosis
over a period of time - i.e. more of a one-off (well, OK, for a decade or
two) rather than a need for ongoing repair.
There's mention of machines going bang and producing lots of smoke, which
suggests they're worried about the PSU RF suppression caps in particular -
but there's also a comment about needing people who can tell the polarity
of a capacitor, which implies there might be more to it than that. I've no
idea if they're blindly replacing various electrolytics, or using an ESR
meter to identify problem ones.
