Subject: Glorious DVI
Okay.
So I solved all the asynchronous crap. Perfect digitisation of
the RGB output (in the absence of the pixel clock). Re-rendering
it with a simple CRTC, loosely synced to the digitiser, so as to
keep those /incredibly/ picky contemporary monitors satisfied.
DVI output (well, HDMI really). VGA too, but that's boring now.
And it's friggin' epicly gorgeous ! Every pixel in its clear,
un-washed-out, un-flickering, consistently coloured splendour.
Source synchronous (no tearing). And with only minimal delay
(one, two lines).
So it can be done ... !
Don't hold your breath for a product though. Some things left
to solve, many more to make more flexible. No teletext (that
will be a while new story, with its very own 6 instead of 16
MHz pixel clock, and need for actual frame buffer sized
interlacing).
More later. Hopefully. Throughout the year.
