For those interested - it's work in progress but I've cobbled together a 
JavaScript Viewdata client.

It still has some dodgy keyboard and screen handling, plus it doesn't yet 
do double height or flashing etc. - but it's basically there, probably.

It's a Websockets thing.

You can also now connect to CCl4 on port 992 (SSL) as well as 23 and there 
is TOR access@...
