In response to a question from Mike Gingell:

The TOSHIBA T100 does not have any kind of hardware UART. The
RS232 "PORT" is driven by a 8255.  A sotware program to
drive it is limited to 300 baud!

I don't know any more than this.  A friend of mine has one.
