Subject: Applicard and Super Serial Card

Thanks for your comments re- the 9600 baud problem. From what you say, it may
be impossible to run the Applicard at this speed, if the screen is going to be
updated. I was thinking about two possible solutions, using a direct serial
I/O from the Applicard bus or writing some sort of buffered driver for the
Super Serial Card. Both of these would be fairly long term projects.
However, if the screen is the limitation, the first solution may not work. I
was also wondering whether some sort of block mode transfer to screen might be
possible. One line at a time would presumably be more efficient than the
present one character at a time. I have a ][+, so your other solution is not
possible. I must use 9600 as I wish to be included in a group access to a
VAX, which for complicated reasons cannot use autobauding, and 9600 has been
chosen as the fixed rate.
                                     Thanks again
                                             Gordon Marwood
