Sheffield Ward Boundary Review (Periodic Electoral Review)
In 2002-2003 the local government ward boundaries within Sheffield were
reviewed. The last review had been in about 1979, and since then the
share of electorate in each ward had drifted drastically away from
the average. One ward had 8,000 electors and another had 26,000 electors,
with all wards electing three councillors.
I submitted a recommended set of proposals and commented on the draft
and final recommendations from the Boundary Commission. These documents
can be found here, along with an initial recommendation on how to arrange
the new wards into new parliamentary constituencies at the parliamentary
boundary review after the next General Election.
